Slack acts as the central hub for your team communication, just as Tara to your team development. With the Tara and Slack integration, collaboration is even more effortless: you can receive instant updates, track progress, and always stay informed throughout the release cycle.

Integrating with Slack requires double authentication– one for your Slack workspace and one for personal notifications. You have to be an admin on both Tara and Slack workspace to provide authorization.

Here are a few simple steps to get started.

Enabling Slack Integration

Step 1: Installing Slack App

  1. Navigate to the homepage and click on the Slack icon located on the navigation bar.

  2. On the Integrations page, navigate to the Slack icon, and click on Connect.

  3. Upon connecting you will be sent to Slack to integrate Slack with Tara. You will be prompted to grant Tara permission to access your Slack workspace. Click on Allow to proceed.

Note: You can only integrate one Tara account with one Slack workspace.

Step 2: Connecting Slack Profile

  1. Once you authorize Slack to access your workspace, navigate back to Integrations and click on Connect Slack Profile to link your Slack account with your Tara account.

  2. Click on Allow to grant Tara the permission to access your Slack workspace.

Step 3: Adding Tara to a public or private channel

Once you have granted Slack permission to access your account, navigate to the Slack channel you wish to integrate with Tara and type the following command:

/invite @tara

Receiving Slack Notifications

Once you have enabled Slack integration, you will receive personal notifications from Tara, such as:

  • Notifications on mentions: tag your teammates with @mentions inside a requirement or task to notify them via Slack.

  • Notifications on new requirements and task comments: you will receive notifications on newly created requirements. Each team member will also be notified when there are new comments on tasks they are assigned to.

  • Automated sprint reports: When your team completes a sprint, all members will receive a quick report on Slack with information on completed effort, tasks, PRs, and the total number of commits.
