For account owners

Here are a few simple steps to help you get Tara ready for you and your team.

Invite Users

You can invite users to your team by using the Invite Users button on the bottom left. This is the only way for a new user to join an existing org- if a user creates a new account without an invite a new org will be created.

Connect to Github

You can find out about connecting to Github here. Our integration does two things:

    1. Bring in any open issues from Github - if you use Github’s issue tracker - so that you can manage them much more easily in Tara and plan them for upcoming sprints
    2. Bring in commits and pull requests so that your team has full visibility into engineering activities during the sprint

Get each team member to sign into his/her Github profile (show image), and Tara will ensure open PRs are routed to the right Tara users and surface them on each engineer’s homepage.

Grant/Update User Access

There are two user access levels: User and Admin. An admin has access to all functionalities as well as the following functions:

  1. Ability to make other users admin or change their access role
  2. Ability to deactivate and reactivate users
  3. Ability to install GitHub app for Github repo integration

If you are an admin and need to update access for team members, simply follow these steps:

1. Click on your avatar on the bottom left.

2. Select User List.

3. Update user access through the drop down menu. You can either grant admin/user access or deactivate an account.

Update Org Name

To update the name of your current org (workspace):

1.  Click on your avatar on the bottom left.

2. Select My Workspace.

3. Update your org name.

Switching Workspace

Users can create, join, and switch between multiple workspaces on Tara. Each workspace contains its own set of data, including requirements, tasks, and sprints, enabling you to segregate projects between different organizations.

To switch your workspace, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the left-side menu.

2. Click on the workspace initials (located under the Tara logo).

3. Select the workspace you want to access.

Remember to sit down and talk with your team about how you’re going to use Tara to fit into whatever method your team uses to build software. Creating a shared understanding of how you’ll use requirements, tasks, and sprints is the best way to start working.
